Customers rushed to 3)line up at gas stations nationwide yesterday as news broke that the 4)Ministry of Economic Affairs had 5)scrapped restrictions on fuel price increases, allowing 6) state-run oil refiner CPC Corp, Taiwan (CPC, 台灣中油) to pass higher 7) crude costs on to consumers.
1) Revoke v. re(back) + voke(call) 所以是call back, 撤回。另外常見的就是 recall (回收) 也是一樣的拆解法re(back) + call，常用在有毒用品回收的新聞。
ex. Toxic Toy Recalls 有毒玩具回收
2) Curb v. 新聞常用字 = control，新聞英語喜歡用短字代替長的字。這個字源自於騎馬拉韁繩時的那種控制。
3) line up= 前兩天學的queue 排隊
4) Ministry of Economic Affairs經濟部 Minister-部長 ex. Minister of Finance 財政部長
5) scrap = To break down
6) state-run state在新聞英語常當成國家，而不是州。這裡的用法指的是國營。
7) crude n. 原油

8) diesel n. 柴油。這個字同學可能很少見，但在國外很常見，因為以前的火車就是柴油火車(Diesel Train)。小朋友喜愛的湯瑪士小火車(Thomas and Friends)裡的Diesel Train 就是一個壞心眼的角色，會故意漏油害別的蒸汽引擎(火車頭)(Tank Engine)脫軌。
