NY 1)Auto Show: World's first 'sky-worthy' car-Courtesy of BBC

UScompany Terrafugia has put on display a 2) prototype car that is licensed to fly as well as drive, at the New York International Auto Show.

It is the first 3) vehicle in the world to have met both the standards of the 3)FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and the 4)NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), according to Cliff Allen, Vice President of Sales at Terrafugia.

The vehicle has 5) retractable wings allowing it to fit in a suburban garage

可以收起來的機翼，方便停入一般車庫。

1)Auto Show       n.        Automobile show, 車展

2)prototype         n.        原型

3) vehicle            n.        這邊指的是交通工具。這個字也有「工具」的意思。

3)FAA                  (Federal Aviation Administration)

                               aviation 飛行，這裡指的是符合飛行規範

                                          飛行器：aircraft = air + craft

4)NHTSA              National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

                                          這裡指的是符合道路規範。

                                           國外這種規範很多，像是FDA(Food and Drug Administration), 就是美國藥品的規範。
