As the sun set in Boston on Monday, April 15, the marathon clocks along the race 3)route still 4)ticked off the time for runners who were long gone and who would never finish the race. Boylston Street in the city’s Back Bay remained 5)sealed off, the immediate area around the two 6)blasts deemed a crime scene. Runners 7)packed area hotels — especially the hotel bars — 8)swapping stories, hugging, many crying. There were no 9)rowing teams out on the Charles River. A couple of geese pecked on the pitch of a soccer field that was usually full of practicing teams at dusk. Dozens of emergency vehicles lined Storrow Drive’s grassy 10)embankment, 11)sentries over the 12)crawling traffic, 13)snarled by the city’s 14)lockdowns.

North Korea 1)intensified threats of an 2)imminent 3)conflict against the United States and the South on Tuesday, warning foreigners to 4)evacuate South Korea to avoid being dragged into “5)thermonuclear war.”
The North's latest message 6)belied an atmosphere free of anxiety in the South Korean capital, where the city center was 7)bustling with traffic and offices operated normally. Pyongyang has shown no sign of preparing its 1.2-million-strong army for war.
The warning to foreigners in the South, reported by the KCNA news agency, said once war 8)broke out “it will be an 9)all-out war, a merciless, sacred, 10)retaliatory war to 11)be waged by (North Korea).
